The Perrelet Story

The world-renowned Perrelet watch brand, which bills itself as the inventor of the automatic watch, all begins with the birth of Abraham-Louis Perrelet in the Neuchâtel mountains of Switzerland. He was a master of his craft and his skills and intelligence have echoed throughout history. Interested in the art of watchmaking, he dedicated much of his young life to the construction of precision instruments.

From the 1770s, he concentrated on devising a system of perpetual motion. In 1777, he completed his revolutionary invention: the automatic self-winding movement. To this day, no one has found a better way of animating mechanical calibers.

Since the late 18th Century, Perrelet has been an innovator in the watch world and that spirit continues with the company today.
